VISION GROWS WHEN YOU CAN CARRY IT WITH OTHERS
TWO CURATORS, ONE VISION
Meet Lisa Wedell, who built Renatus Living from a need for furniture for the backyard. Growing up with a father in the lumber business and a grandfather in the boutique furniture/cabinet curating business, she was surrounded with lumber, mills, sawdust, and the rhythm of honest work, the lessons sunk in deeper than any textbook. It shaped how she curates, how she leads, and how she carries a legacy forward.
Combined with a childhood watching a grandfather plow fields and grow food for the community. She remembers a bucket being hung at the pumkin, corn, & watermelon patches to enable the community to pick what they needed and leave the cash in the bucket. She learned to operate as a community and be mindful of others needs.
From her mother, who loved to draw pencil portraits, she was taught to garden, cook, and sew and the important to live off the land. She learned the art of entertainment and how important cooking was for bonding people together. From her sewing abilities, she learned to create window treatments and upholster furniture. She learned generosity from her mother and grandmother.
From her grandmother and great grandmother, she learned the importance of family. It was on her daily walks to visit her grandmother, when she chose not to cut through the woods with the horse but to take the road, that she would travel though a neighbors bamboo forest to her small pottery studio to learn the art of pottery, later leading to cast stone making.
